Do I really need to postpone because of a cold?

you need to be healthy prior to any elective procedure. most surgeons would recommend to postpone surgery if you have a cold. Every plastic surgeon has his own preoperative protocol which he recommends to his patients. I would suggest you to discuss this with your plastic surgeon.

It all depends on your general health and cold symptoms. In general, it's better to postpone because anesthesia will be safer for your lungs and if you develop a fever post op , you won't know if it's from the implant or the virus. Intubation can also seed the infection deep into your lungs.
