Almost 1 year post op and I noticed a bulge and popping sensation near my scar, what could this be? (photos)

Hello, apparently your implant is visible, that's why you touch it and it goes inward, it seems most likely that the closure suture in the deep plane opened, it should be closed so that this is not visible.

That is most likely your implant. If the tissues are thin in that area, the implant can budge like a weak area in an inner tube. Typically, this is a benign condition and doesn't require treatment or intervention unless the overlying tissue is exceptionally thin. In that situation the thin area can be strengthened by bringing the surrounding tissues together as a simple outpatient procedure.

Hi,It is likely that the skin and subcutaneous tissue in that area have thinned, and what you are feeling is probably the implant. To treat this, we can open the area under local anesthesia and bring the subcutaneous tissues together in layers to close it. This procedure is done to correct the issue and strengthen the tissues over the implant.

Thank you for posting. It is hard to say with just a couple photos but it could actually be the implant. Th best way to confirm this is with a sonogram. Please consult your plastic surgeon. I’m sure he will to ask for breast imaging in order to better address this issue. If it is the implant a simple revision will do.

Your scar healing process is not over yet. It is possible that a small nerve branch is entrapped within the scar, a condition known as neuroma. Injection of corticosteroid may help , possibly completely resolve the pain. It should be discussed with your surgeon. Good luck.

When the breast tissue and skin are closed over the implant, sometimes tissue is thinner in certain areas or the sutures pull through the tissue internally, causing there to be less tissue covering the implant. This can make the implant more visible or palpable in these areas. Generally this isn’t anything to worry about, although it can be annoying. It looks like that is what is going on. If you have concerns about it worsening, please see your surgeon.

The bulge you’re seeing and feeling is your implant. Don’t fret. The tissue between your skin(scar) and the implant is quite thin, but is plenty strong enough. It is common to be able to feel a breast implant at this site, particularly if a dual plane technique has been used. Because I don’t know the exact techniques your plastic surgeon used, it would be reasonable for you to send your question and photos to him/her. Hope this helps.
