Thick skin African primary 2022 and I’m unhappy with the side profile as it does not mesh well with my features, people I do not know have asked me if I had a nose job, it was augmented with rib and looks too artificial, what exactly does my nose need/should I focus my search on?
Answer: Deprojection Thank you for posting your question here!My answer will be based on the limited information and pictures provided , for a more detailed and personalized plan please consult with your plastic surgeon in person. from your pictures you seem to have had a good result but I do understand the concern that it does not match well with your features. Your tip does seem to be a little over projected which can definitely be fixed so that the side profile fits better with your other features.I hope this helps, best of luck!

Answer: African American Rhinoplasty A rib graft in the dorsum can give a sharp profile which is not the natural profile of an African American Nose. That is bringing attention to the nose. The rib graft can be removed to reduce this appearance. African american rhinoplasty typically involves 4 different components. Some patients need them all, some only one or two. Here are the 4 components. 1. Improvement of the bridge height with an implant. 2. Narrowing of the wide upper nose (bony part) with osteotomies. 3. Narrowing of the tip (Tip-plasty) 4. Narrowing of the nostrils (Alarplasty) Regards Dr. Janjua

Answer: Perhaps you need a bit of augmentation by your Radix. Based on your photos, you appear to have an overall pleasing nasal appearance. I can see that your bridge was augmented in the lower 2/3 of your nose, however, your Radix, or the upper portion of your nasal bridge, still appears to be a bit too low. Removal of rib cartilage would be a major undertaking, and we always recommend keeping secondary complicated revision rhinoplasty as a last resort. A permanent non-surgical nose job with microdroplet Silikon-1000, might be considered for achieving additional volume at the top of your bridge, and perhaps in your nasal tip to soften it somewhat. Thank you for this question, and I hope it helps! Sincerely, Dr Joseph

Answer: Revision rhinoplasty Hello and thank you for your question. Based on your photographs, a revision with nasal tip deprojection will give you a much more natural look and shape of your nose without losing definition. With good surgical technique, you could have an outstanding result. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified rhinoplasty surgeon who can evaluate you in person. Best wishes and good luck. Richard G. Reish, M.D. Harvard-trained plastic surgeon
