Hi Doctor, I am 17 days post op from having a full tummy tuck. I have been wearing my compression garment all the time since having my op however, I developed some fluid which I informed my surgeon about, , I went to see him yesterday and he drained approx. 100mls from my tummy which was dark red fluid. I have been told to continue wearing my compression garment and wear something tighter where the fluid has been drained.

Answer: Fluid after TT Yes this is either old blood, seroma fluid, or both and it can reaccumulate. Compression, limited activity, and close follow will solve it. It is a common occurrence and will not cause major problems unless it gets infected which is unlikely. Make sure to get seen again.

Answer: TT hematoma , can fluid return? TT patients need to stay 14 days before flying home since A seroma or hematoma can form post-operatively usually this occurs within that time. We can monitor you post op needs. Less activty is probably better, at our private spa retreat you are pampered. Your surgeon did the right thing to drain it but. unfortunately fluid can return and need to be drained again. Please keep seeing your surgeon regularly to examined and best of luck!
