Although uncommon, permanentnumbness can occur after tummy tuck surgery, especially in the lower midline area between the scar and belly button. After 15 months there can besome improvement but it is doubtful. In most cases there is some sensationpresent, just not the normal pre-surgical amount. The good news is that it doesnot affect your normal functions and with time, most people are no longer awareor concerned with its presence.#tummytucknumbness #tummytuckpost-op
Thanks for your question. As far as swelling, this is somewhat normal. Depending on the patient, swelling and numbness can possibly last for more than one year. You should notify your surgeon about the vibration sensation you feel.Hope this helps,Dr. JSB
Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, numbness is a very common complication after tummy tuck. After a year, most patients have regained most of their sensation. However, it is rare to regain all of your sensation. You should discuss this with your plastic surgeon. They might have used a different technique and they would be best qualified to predict the timing and amount of recovery.
Hello, some patients will have an area of residual numbness after a tummy tuck, although most people do not report that it is very concerning (it is not an area where full sensation is as important as fingertips, for example). Hello, drain output can fluctuate with position and activity. Uncommonly, increasing drain output can be a sign of a problem, but if you are feeling well and your PS is satisfied with your overall healing this is not likely to be the issue. From your description it sounds like they...
Medical tourism has becoming increasingly popular in recent years; patients have been flying out of the U.S. for plastic surgery, lured by lower prices. However, a parallel trend has also appeared: plastic surgeons in the United States are finding themselves treating an increasing number of...
Hello, I find that most of my patients are feeling well and have returned to full activities by 3 months after a fleur-de-lys abdominoplasty, although a minority can have persistent aches and pains for a longer time. If you are still having significant symptoms it is best to discuss your...
Thank you for your question. Your surgeon is correct that the retained stitch that was cut off will likely come out on its own in time. Even if it doesn't, the material is pretty inert and unlikely to cause a healing problem. Best wishes on your recovery!
Thank you for your question. Lower abdominal, pubic and genital swelling is quite common and normal after body contouring procedures such as a tummy tuck, liposuction, body lift, or combined procedures. Swelling in this area can persist for months before resolving. Discuss this...
