I want to lose weight after BBL (Photo)

Question

Ok so I actually want to lose weight about 15-20 lbs. I’m currently 158 and 5’3. I also want my butt to get and look smaller. I want my over all frame to look thinner. If i eat very little and not do much exercise just watch my diet very well, will my butt also lose weight and look smaller. I kinda want my body to feed off my body fat! Basically my question is, if losing weight by just diet, can butt also got smaller.

The BBL results that are obtained after 3 months are permanent if the body weight and body fat percentage are held stable. Only three weeks after BBL, it is much too early in your recovery to predict final outcome. This is not the time to be losing weight.  I recommend that my patients eat a well balanced diet and take 100 grams of protein each day during the healing phase for the first six weeks following surgery.  
About 50% of the fat that is transferred lives and becomes a part of you.  This will hold stable as long as there is no weight fluctuation. In most cases of weight loss, the buttocks and other areas with stored fat will become smaller.  The fat will not move, but losses in weight will distribute differently.  The fat that lives in the buttocks from the procedure will get larger with weight gain and smaller with weight loss.Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA

Thank you for your questions. Rather ironic that after your BBL you want to look smaller and thinner, especially in your buttocks. If your procedure was recent, you can expect things will decrease in size over the first 6 months. If it has been 6-12 months since surgery, then you can expect that as you lose weight all over, the areas of fat graft will lose accordingly as well.Hope this helps!

When losing weight after a BBL, it is typical to still keep your new proportions. Same is also true with gaining weight after a BBL.

Dear Liana2016,You will likely see your weight gain in a uniform distribution after a fat transfer to the buttock (Brazilian buttock lift). The weight or fat that you gain after surgery will not necessarily all go to your buttock area. Similar to weight loss, It’s important to realize that weight loss will affect the entire body, but it may affect the buttock in a more pronounced manner.Daniel Barrett, MD
