Will having had a spinal fusion keep me from having the SculpSure or Cool Sculpting done?

Sculpsure is a noninvasive laser treatment that removes up to 25% of stubborn fat in the treated area in 25 minutes.It is FDA approved for the abdomen and flanks. It is safe if you get pregnant in the future.The body contouring effects are seen in as quick as six weeks with final results at 12 weeks. The results are permanent as long as you maintain your weight and health.It is safe with proevious surgeries but best to ask your surgeonThe laser targets and destroys the fat cells only which are then naturally removed from the body. Since the laser does not affect the skin or muscle it can be used on all skin colors and there has been no reported incidents of burns when treated by a properly trained physician. It has four applicators that can be customized to treat the areas of stubborn fat. If a second treatment is needed we wait at least six weeks and usually closer to 12. There is no downtime and you can resume your normal activities right after the treatment. There may be some soreness in the area for a few days for which you can take ibuprofen or tylenol. A cold compress can also be used.Sculpsure is not used for skin tightening however some of her patients have seen this. If more skin tightening is needed we have combined this with thermi or Ulthera for a complete treatment. A spinal Fusion would not outright prevent
you from having SculpSure or CoolSculpting. I would suggest you find a
practitioner with both and try out the position you’ll be in for each during
the treatment, and then choose based on comfort, and that practitioner’s advice
about which is better suited to your fat reduction needs.

There would be no problem having SculpSure or CoolSculpting done after a spinal fusion surgery.  Neither procedure should affect the spine.  

Yes. It is safe to get SculpSure if you have a spinal fusion. You just want to keep the panels away from any scar tissue and not place them over any internal hardware. Best of luck.

appreciate your concern.No, if the panels are placed away from the hardware area the treatment should be seamless. It is important that the panels are away from scar tissue, since this makes the treatment more painful and in the majority of cases non tolerable.

No not at all.  The machine is very safe the laser only targets the fat cell in  the area being treated.  Also the treatment is much shorter only 25 minutes.

SculpSure requires only that 1. area warmed is not numb, so there is feedback about sensitivity, 2. fat to be sculpted, 3. not being pregnant. 

Thank you for your question. No, your surgery should not affect your ability to have either CoolSculpting or SculpSure. While both are efficacious, SculpSure is a shorter treatment (half the time), and has not been associated with any paresthesias after the treatment - and is, anecdotally, more comfortable that CoolSculpting. With SculpSure the treatment can be performed in 25 minutes, there are a number of frames that accommodate patient-specific problem areas easily, and it is fairly painless. Best of luck!
