Why won't my vermilion boarder filler go away or dissolve after three years? (photos)

Question

I tried my vermilion boarder and hated it. The placement of filler is not getting metabolized because three years later its there and prominent as ever. I have gotten several touch ups in the middle since. I know that I can dissolve but I dont want to lose the other filler. is there a reason this has not gone away or is there anything I can do to get the boarder to dissolve? I can still feel the filler there with my finger and do not like the way it looks. Could this be forever? Please help.

In our experience, temporary fillers may occasionally lead to permanent results. You appear to have a pleasing lip appearance, so the feasibility of hyaluronidase or dilute steroid injections is uncertain - hyaluronidase may dissolve HA, but it may not lead to complete resolution of your concern. Especially if you have had touch ups since its placement, hyaluronic acid most definitely can persist this long and actually much longer. Bottom line if it is hyaluronic acid filler, it can be removed by injecting it with the enzyme hyaluronidase. On the other hand, if the enzyme does not break down the product, then presumable, some other filler was used instead. Unfortunately silicone oil is cheaper than hyaluronic acid fillers and unethical injectors sometimes use cheaper products to increase profit. Do your best to work with the most ethical offices even if it is more expensive.

If you still have leftover filler after all this time, we would highly recommend you going back to your provider and having the remaining filler dissolved.

Some fillers like Juvederm can last a long time in the area it is injected in. If the volume persists after this length of time I would recommend dissolving the filler and starting fresh. This would remove the "touch up" filler but would really address this problem the right way rather than injecting with touch ups to hide it.

If the filler you had put in the vermillion border was a Hyaluronic acid based filler it would not have lasted 3 years.If the touch ups involve the vermillion border and were done recently then you just need to get it dissolved.
