This is best answered by your own surgeon. There can be different types of surgery, each with different recoveries. In general I allow my patients to begin full exercise two weeks after surgery with the exception of exercise that involves their chest, which they can start three weeks after surgery.
If your doctor has you in a vest or garment you should wait until he or she allows you to remove it for swimming. Generally, garments are worn for 4 weeks. Whether your plastic surgeon allows you to remove it for periods of time to swim or exercise before that will vary from doctor to doctor.
