Should I get braces before or after rhinoplasty?

Having braces before, during, or after a
rhinoplasty will have no effect on the results of your nose job. Still, you
should be mentally prepared and know that getting braces around the same time
of the date of your surgery may be uncomfortable. Soreness in the mouth is very
common as your mouth is adjusting to the feeling of having braces inserted, and
adding the discomfort of a rhinoplasty recovery to the mix may be quite much. It
may be better to space out the two cosmetic treatments by at least two weeks.
Besides this, there is no major concern with having braces at the time of your
rhinoplasty. 

It shouldn't make a large difference unless you will be having major dental movement or moving your jaws (orthognathic surgery). In that case it makes more sense to have your rhinoplasty surgery afterwards.

Rhinoplasty can be performed at any point during routine orthodontic treatment.  Correction of severe over- or underbites, however, can change the appearance of the upper lip and lip-columella relationship.  In these uncommon cases, it is best to wait until after orthodontic treatment with braces is complete. 

The question of the best timing for braces really depends on your specific anatomy, rhinoplasty goals and plan with your braces.Your orthodontist would likely be able to give you a better idea of how much of an external facial change to expect after your orthodontic treatment.I suspect that your rhinoplasty surgeon would be able to take these factors into account when planning and performing your surgery. If you're unsure you could always wait to have nose surgery until after your braces are off just to be safe. 

It is certainly acceptable to undergo a rhinoplasty before, during, or after orthodontic braces. We perform many rhinoplasties when patients are in the middle of their orthodontic treatment.

Dear Ebebe19, Rhinoplasty procedures are performed on patients with different stages of orthodontic treatment and it is really dependent on each individual patients needs. This is assessed at the time of consultation so I would suggest seeing your surgeon again for a secondary consultation and discuss your concerns he/she may prefer your orthodontics are done prior to surgery.
