Rhinoplasty to rotate tip of nose downwards? (Photo)

Question

I have an upturned pig like nose. Can asian rhinoplasty surgery help rotate my nose downwards and make it more pointy? I hate how in pictures my nostrils easily show. I also like the look of the tip of the nose going downwards, and in front view the nose looks like a "V" shape. Is this possible?

During Asian rhinoplasty, the tip of the nose can be counter-rotated and thus made to look longer and less "pig" like.  The V-shape you like can be re-created by extending the columella (area between the nostrils) downward, and adding volume to your infratip (area below the tip of your nose).  Paramount to a successful result is finding a surgeon with the skill and experience to achieve those changes, while sharing your aesthetic vision.

Asian patients seeking rhinoplasty often desire a more narrow, refined, and projected tip.  The tip may also be turned up or overrotated such that nostril show on the frontal view is excessive.  Tip grafting can turn down or counterrotate the nose and reduce nostril visibility.

A full set of photographs or better, an in-person exam, is critical in establishing the best plan of care.  Asian rhinoplasty can certainly help to counter-rotate the nasal tip giving it more overall length.  I would also consider narrowing and defining your tip and narrowing the base as well.  Lengthening the columella would help to create that sharper "V" shape like the model has.  Consult with a facial plastic surgeon or plastic surgeon to discuss your options in person. Rhinoplasty for tip refinement, narrowing the base and derotation of the tip can be done to give you a  more attractive nose. You may consider a chin implant as well for better balance of the face.

Your tip can be narrowed and defined. These pictures do not show how much rotation is present; I need to see a full set of pictures as described on my website to evaluate your nose.

The photos you sent are shot at angles that do not clearly reveal true front or profile views. Consequently, it is difficult to say how much tip rotation you really have. The angle between the bottom of the nose and the upper lip is usually between 95 and 110 degrees in females and 85 to 95 degrees in males. So bringing the tip down (de-rotating it) tends to de-feminize a nose somewhat. However, if it is overly rotated to begin with and brought down to an angle within the female parameters, it is acceptable. There are several ways of de-rotating the nasal tip, and these can be combined with techniques that also narrow it to make it more angular.
