I had 30 units of botox in my forehead and between brows 5 days ago ,there is NO change .I took before and after pictures. I have gotten botox before and it had results right away and better within a few days I believe that injector diluted botox to much, is that possible ? she had admitted doing that in the past .

Before 10 days it is not reasonable to evaluate the outcome of Botox injections.  If there is concern about dilution, have them mix it in your presence.

With Botox, it is important to understand exactly what Botox does. It relaxes the muscles so they won't contract and cause wrinkles. So the Botox is working if you can't contract the muscles well. Sometimes, even though the muscles are relaxed, the lines remain because if they were present for a long time, they can actually get kind of "stuck" in the skin. In that case, a filler can further improve the lines. If your muscles are still moving normally, then something isn't quite right and you should follow up with your injector to see what may have happened.

30 U is a pretty strong amount , but can take up to 14 days to work. I suggest if you dont see improvement in 10-14 days go back to your injector and inquire as to why you are not seeing results.  I hope they took photos before to compare when you go back.  Best, Dr. Emer.

If I am understanding the description correctly, 30 units of Botox was the dose used to treat the glabella (11's) and frontalis (horizontal forehead lines).  If my assumption is correct, this dose is on the lower side for these two areas, which usually require about 40 units. Secondly, 5 days is too early to fully judge your response.  I encourage patients to wait about 2 weeks before calling it a result.

the dilution makes no difference--it is the dose that matters. it may take some more time for you to notice the change--ten days is not always sufficient for the forehead

it can take up to 10-14 days to see the full effects of the botox. after this time, I would contact the doctor who injected you . you may require additional injectio.

For the best possible treatment, you should ensure that you are used an experienced and expert physician injector. While 30 units may be an under treatment for the areas that you are treating and your goals, you should see some improvement after 5 to 7 days.Allow yourself 2 weeks for the botox, then request to see your injector. If you no longer trust your injector, you should seek out an experienced and expert physician injector for future treatments.

Usually botox takes about a week to work. I usually tell patients to give it two weeks and come in for a follow-up to be touched up if there is a problem.  Good luck.

Our experience is typically 5-7 days at the most for Botox to affect the muscles. If she has diluted this in the past why continue to go to her. I inject myself and find patients like this a lot. Hello Norway32, Thanks for the question.Without examining you, physically feeling the tissue, assessing your desired outcome, taking a full medical history, and discussing the pros and cons of any further treatments it is difficult to be comprehensive.However, within the timeline you describe you should be seeing some type of effect from the Botox treatment.  I tell my patients that they should see a response by day 7 and if not they are to call the office.  I would contact the injector and have the physician overseeing the injections examine you.Good luck, Dr. S
