What compression garment is best for CoolSculpting of the tummy area?

Ok. So the Coolsculpting process works by inducing apoptosis of your fat cells which means that the cold temperature of -10'C tells these cells that it is time to cycle out.

While this can cause some swelling during the process it has largely been a involuting process and not an inflammatory process. This means that the cells are dying and being reabsorbed. While I am sure that it feels good to have compression it is not necessarily one of the more important aspects of post procedure care.

It is far more important to massage and eat well. I share with my patients that the fat cells involute more efficiently if there is the right nutrient millieu surrounding the cells.

A compression garment is not needed after a CoolSculpting treatment to the tummy (abdomen) or any other treated area.  

Congratulations on your decision to choose CoolSculpting as your method of body shaping technology.  This treatment presents amazing results that are smooth, natural looking and permanent. Although it is not required that one wear compression garments post treatment with CoolSculpting, many do choose this option for purposes of comfort during the period of swelling that may last a couple of weeks.  If you are treating with the new CoolAdvantage applicators, the need for compression is greatly reduced, as the post treatment discomfort is much less than with earlier generations of applicators. There is no need to wear a compression garment after a coolsculpting treatment.  However, if you choose to do so based on comfort I would just use any that you currently own that covers the area of treatment.

One of the benefits of non-invasive procedures like Coolsculpting is that there is no need for post-procedure compression garments to be worn. Having said that, some patients prefer to wear some type of garment to provide support, protection from being bumped, reduce swelling ...etc. If you choose to use a garment, whatever you feel most comfortable with should work just fine. Spanx has any number of different ones that would all work well. Go with personal preference.

While post treatment care will vary from center to center, we do not recommend a compression garment post treatment (nor do we know of any center that does).

We don't recommend post-treatment garments. Make sure you see an office where the physician is heavily involved in the process and can counsel you on what to do to optimize results. 

A compression garment is not necessary after a CoolSculpting treatment.  It doesn't change the results or your time for full results or full recovery.  However, some patients really like the way a tight fitting garment feels after CoolSculpting treatments.  Other patients really don't like the feel of anything tight on the area treated.  

It's really an individual preference as to what feels best for you in the first few days and even couple of weeks after CoolSculpting treatment.  

On the abdomen there seems to be more swelling after CoolSculpting and many of our patients feel a compression garment holding in their abdomen feels better rather than the bloated feeling.  

Any type of compression garment you have or can find that would completely cover the area of your abdomen you treated would be fine if you want to wear it for comfort.  Most of our patients tell us that as long as the waist line doesn't stop in the middle of the treated area, its comfortable.  So if you treated both upper and lower abdomen you may need to find a compression garment that has coverage up to your ribs to be the most comfortable.
