I have been considered a mommy makeover after having my two beautiful kids. I was diagnosed with MTHFR after several pregnancy losses. I needed to give myself Lovenox in the abdomen for 1 1/2 to ensure a healthy pregnancy. Is there any correlation with injections, stretch marks, and muscle separation? Also, i am very concerned regarding having a mommy makeover and any potential risks with the MTHFR gene.
Answer: Mommy Makeover Candidate? Based on your medical history the best place to begin is a discussion with your hematologist. Talk about the risks in your case for elective plastic surgery. If given medical clearance you can then proceed in researching board certified plastic surgeons near you.

Answer: MTHFR and mommy makeover, are there risks in getting the procedures? Heterozgous vs. homozygous is a consideration. You will need hematology clearance and a perioperative plan. Anesthesia may be modulated as well.

Answer: Some Increased Risk Having elective surgery, like a mommy makeover can be done safely, but because of the increased risk, good planning with your PS, hematologist and internist can minimize those risks. Each case is individual, and some patients may be advised to not have elective surgery. I am unaware of a correlation of injections to stretch marks and muscle separation.

Answer: Mommy makeover and MTHFR Thank you for your question and being proactive regarding safety for your proposed procedure. Depending on your general overall condition you might be at a higher risk for clotting. In general I like treating patients undergoing abdominoplasty with blood thinners which should address that potential risk. You of course would need to be examined and in discussion of the risks. As part of my practice I have a alternative medicine practitioner with special interest in management of patients with your condition.

Answer: Medical Clearance Needed Before Mommy Makeover Mamabod2. I recommend that you visit your internist and seek advice about elective surgery and your medical condition. Then consult with a board certified plastic surgeon in your area to see if you are a good candidate for Mommy Makeover surgery. Your surgeon will probably ask for clearance from your hematologist and internist, and a conference among all of your doctors would be a good idea if surgery is considered. Best of luck!
