I had a full tt and bl with implants 10 weeks ago, i have had some break down on my scarring and now i am concerned how the end results of scarring will look will they be very thick now due to the incisions breaking down? Or will they eventually get thinner? They have now scabbed over and some of the scabs have now come off and the incisions are closed. i have seen my surgeon about how the scars will heal he assures me they wont heal badly but i just wanted to see what your thoughts where Thanks
Answer: Scarring thickness 10 weeks post-op, will my scars become thinner as I heal? (Photos Scar recovery is a process. It can take 12-18 months for scars to settle and "mature" (the term used by plastic surgeons). During this time it is important to follow the instruction of your plastic surgeon with respect to scar therapies (taping, massages, scar products) to insure that the scar improves maximally. If at the end of the scar maturation period the surgeon feels that scar revision surgery (often performed under local anesthesia) is warranted, then he or she can discuss the timing for it. Best of luck!

Answer: Scarring thickness 10 weeks post-op, will my scars become thinner as I heal? Remember that it takes scars a good year to mature. They always look red and raised initially and as time passes, they tend to flatten and fade some. At this point, you can look into application of silicone gel (like Silagen) to help improve the appearance of the scars. You can even ask about treatments with radiofrequency devices, like Venus Viva, to help scars look better. Hope this helps!

Answer: TT scars Congrats on your MM. As you may appreciate, a TT requires "tension" on the closure, so wound separation with delayed wound healing is not unusual, especially in higher risk individuals, such as active smokers, collagen vascular disease, diabetes, prior abdominal surgeries and/or tight (not much skin) operations. Obviously consult your PS for recommendations on wound healing, activity restriction, compression garment wearing schedule. Full healing may require 12-18 months. There are many options for scar improvement (silicone gel sheeting, IPL, etc) however occasionally scar revision, under local may be required. Good luck.
