I am 37 and over the past few months my under eye area has become very unsightly and old looking. I'm very fair and the skin is almost transparent with veins visible underneath. Skin is papery and thin and it looks very grey underneath. I would like to have tear trough filler but have read that it's not suitable for some patients as their skin won't hold the filler. Is this true? Is there a risk it won't work or that it will make me look worse? Thank you!

Answer: Tear Trough Fillers You should start by consulting with a board certified plastic surgeon or dermatologist for an assessment of your skin type and the areas you would like improvement. Tear trough fillers can certainly enhance the area and revive your looks. It is difficult to assess fully without a photo but an in person consult will give you answers. Be sure to consult with someone that has vast experience and expertise in facial fillers.

Answer: Tear Trough Without a photograph, it is difficult to advise because not everyone is a candidate for filler and this may not even be because of your skin quality, but rather because of the underlying issue causing the appearance of the lower eyelids to be a certain way. Assuming the issue is volume insufficiency, it can be addressed with tear trough filler regardless as the filler is typically injected deep (above bone) so does not appear just underneath the skin anyway.
