Dear Patient,The standard answer is two weeks. Allwill reply that at the office. But I can let my patient fly after 5 days. Butconsidering every case and evaluating what type of surgery I did. The mainproblem is that it can happen some bleeding while on a flight (if it is a smallamount the patient can solve it, but if it is an excess bleeding he/she mayneed doctors help. Normally after 5 days it is hard to have excess bleeding ifsurgery and healing is going well. I would recommend talking to your doctor andseeing when you can (depends on the type of surgery he did).Best RegardsDr. Nabil Fakih
In our practice, we ask patients to spend 7-10 days in town after their surgery, before flying back home. Patients are able to keep in touch with by phone and e-mail, when needed.
Thanksyou must calculate for at least two weeks!( time for removal of stitches and the cast and hopefully you have no complications)BWJ TaheryOtolaryngologist/Facial Plastic SurgeonChesterUK
The standard answer is two weeks. But it could be a lot less. The main problem is bleeding while on a flight. I prefer patients travel once the splint and any packing has been removed, after about a week or so. However, some patients need to travel sooner and if there are no complications or excess bleeding, they can travel in a few days with little risk. Follow up care needs to be arranged locally.
Hi Chirren,Thanks for the question. If the surgery involves working with your cartilages only, you can come back in 5 days time but if ti involves breaking bones and re positioning them its better to plan for 2 weeks stay.I wish you all the best
