Lipo compression garment and lower back pain - is this normal?

Question

Hello. I had a mini tummy tuck and Vader lipo around 5 days ago. I am recovering well. I am seeing my surgeon again next week to have the dressing removed & wound checked. I am wearing the compression garment as advised 24/7 but this adds to the lower back pain. When I slightly pull the garment forward (as in away from my skin) I can stand straighter and feel relived. Is this normal? Is the garment adding to the strain on my back? Any advice would be welcomed. Thank you

Sounds like the garment is doing more harm than good.  Under those circumstances it might be better to take it off.

Compression is often advised after surgery to support tissues as they heal and to manage swelling.  Compression should feel supportive, but not painful.  Contact your surgeon's office to ensure your compression garment is fitting you correctly.

I would recommend that you contact your surgeon to discuss your concerns at this time.  Swelling can last several months following surgery.  Varies from patient to patient.
The best way to assess and give true advice would be an in-person exam.

Actually, this is normal and not due to your garment. It's due to being bend down all the time after tummy tuck. Ask your surgeon about ways to straighten out and your back pain will go away faster.Warmest regards, Dr. ALDO

The post - op swelling will slowly subside over the next three - six months.  You may wear a compression garment if you feel it helps.
