Will my jaw return to normal after Botox?

I had Botox in my Masseter muscle and unfortunately had all the side affects of too much slimming- face sagging more and defected smile. The smile is improving but still not right Will my face return back to normal ?

Sorry to hear you’re not happy with your BOTOX® results. The good news is that your jawline should go back to normal once the effects of the BOTOX wear away. This usually takes around 3 to 4 months, but since everyone will react slightly differently to BOTOX injections, this timeframe can vary. If you choose to get BOTOX again or other injectable treatments in the future, make sure you’re working with an experienced cosmetic surgeon to get the best results.

Thank you for your question about the duration of botox in the masseter muscle.  Botox results typically last 3-4 months.  However, every individual is different in the way your body reacts with the product.  As a general rule, you will want to get a touch up of botox every 3-4 months.

Botox will last 3 months, so yes your face will return back to baseline.  I would not base your opinion of Botox on this one treatment. Botox treatment is catered patient to patient. Better results maybe achieved with less units or a different placement of the units. Be sure to follow up with your provider to communicate your concerns and goals. I hope this helps you.

Botox to the masseter muscles can help to narrow the face and help with grinding of the teeth.  Any side effects, such as changes to the smile, should resolve completely over time.  It could take a few months for this to occur however.

If your smile is off after masseter injection that means you were injected incorrectly. Injecting the masseter muscle should nevertheless produce smile asymmetry. The effects should wear off over 3-4 months, but there is no way to reverse it immediately. It is important you receive these type of treatments from an expert injector with extensve knowledge of the anatomy, such as a board certified plastic surgeon.

Yes, it will return to normal. Generally Botox wears of in ~ 3months but like anything else it can take longer for some people. The good news is that it will completely wear off and return to normal. Before giving up on this treatment, you might be able to achieve the desired results with a lower dose in each side. I would talk to  your doctor about cutting the dose by 40-50%and then be careful to follow post-injection guidelines so the Botox does not migrate. If its not enough, you can always have more injected at your 2 week follow up. Less is more. Good luck

The full effects of Botox will resolve in 3 to 4 months. In some cases it could last up to 6 months. But expect resolution somewhere between the 3rd and 4th month.

Fortunately, Botox is reversible, so without repeated injections, your masseters should slowly regain to their former strength and size by about 6 months, thus reversing the changes to your lower face that you didn't like.  This is an advantage and disadvantage of Botox.  As always, seek proper consultation before treatment and best of luck!
