Will the dimple from sutures ever go away?

Your surgeon is correct when he says the dimples usually go away about 6 weeks after the surgery.If your dimple persists, ask your plastic surgeon if he might consider doing a release of the scar. If the dimple is close to the belly button, he might be able to do this as a simple office procedure using the belly button scar. This should probably resolve your issue.Good Luck.

Thank you for your question.These dimples usually do resolve on their own once the sutures dissolve, which can take 3-6 months depending on the type of suture. If you have not noticed any improvement at this point I would address the issue with your surgeon. They may be able to do a simple in office procedure to correct the problem.

In general these dimples do resolve on their own as long as they are not significantly indented.  If you have seen little improvement over the last several months I would bring this up to your surgeon who can most likely correct this in the office with a small procedure.  Hope this helps.

Dimples after placement of sutures to obliterate dead space in a tummy tuck are not all that uncommon. As the suture dissolves these will usually resolve on their own in a few months. I've had good success simply taking in 18gauge needle under local anesthesia and breaking up the bond between the suture in the bottom of the skin. This should easily take care of the problem.
