Hello, I got a rhinoplasty exactly 6 months ago. My main concern was my bulbous tip, but it seems like the doctor went quite dramatic on the curve of my nose and the tip is still very, very bulbous. Will this settle? It seems quite dramatic for swelling to be able to create such a undesired profile.
Answer: Rhinoplasty Hi @Philosophical163597. Thank you for sharing your photo. Swelling will fluctuate--you can expect a 1 year long healing process. Best of luck, Dr. Nima

Answer: How long does swelling of the tip last after rhinoplasty? How long does swelling of the tip last after rhinoplasty? Swelling of the tip in the area above the tip, called the Supra tip typically takes at least a year to resolve. in .patients with very thick skin of the tip the healing process can take two years or even longer. The appearance of fullness of the lower 1/3 of the nose including the tip is affected by the upper 2/3 of the nose. If The upper 2/3 is thin and or lacks projection this will make the lower 1/3 look larger in proportion. In some cases adding Cartlidge to the upper 2/3 can improve the appearance of an overly bulbous and projecting lower third

Answer: Rhinoplasty results Dear Philosophical163597, it is hard to tell for sure but it is unlikely that your results will significantly change after 6 months. I would suggest you to consult your board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: 6 months revision rhinoplasty Thank you for posting your question and photo. As a specialist in revision rhinoplasty, I usually advice patients to allow one year for the nose to completely heal, as you could still have some residual swelling, especially at the tip. Nonetheless, I do see what you see – meaning the bulbous tip and “dramatic” curve. If the shape does not improve once the swelling decreases, you can consider a revision surgery. Cartilage can be used to straighten the bridge, and the cartilage at the tip would likely need to be trimmed and reshaped for a more refined look. I recommend following up with your original surgeon. If the discussion does not satisfy your concerns, you should consult with another board certified plastic surgeon with revision rhinoplasty experience to discuss your options.

Answer: Swelling after rhinoplasty I can see your concern. I would need to see before pictures to determine what was done. It does look like you lack projection of the upper 2/3 of the nose. This "curve" can be flattened with cartilage or rib grafts if desired. It is normal to have swelling 6 months after a rhinoplasty but that would not explain the over all shape of the nose.
