How would I describe this type of rhinoplasty to a doctor? (Photo)

I'm Asian and looking into rhinoplasties I've noticed that in Asian rhinoplasty the radix often ends up higher on the nose after the procedure. While researching how to prevent this, I came across an article that addresses my exact concerns. I know that ultimately my surgeon will know what best suits my goals but how would I suggest this during the consult? If I describe it as a "chimeric dorsal-glabellar implant" will they know what I'm referring to?

When you consult with your surgeon, I believe it is sufficient to state that you do not want your radix to be raised. If you're dorsal it nasal implant is fashioned and positioned properly, there should not be a problem. I hope this helps! Sincerely, Dr. Joseph

Thank you for that excellent question. I have been performing ethnic rhinoplasty, including Asian rhinoplasty, for over the last five years, exclusively using rib cartilage with muscle fascia. The primary reason for this choice is its near-perfect biocompatibility and the ease with which it can be adjusted to meet the patient's desires. With non-biological materials, although surgeons can make some modifications due to their predefined sizes, these adjustments are irreversible and often result in a higher radix. I have had many revision patients whose main reason for seeking surgery was a high radix. My recommendation for all augmentation rhinoplasties is to use rib cartilage; it's cheaper, safer, and very easy to adjust according to your wishes!
