Sculptra and weight gain? When can I expect the effects of Sculptra to start to diminish.

I had sculptra during a very stressful period in my life where i was very thin and my face had a hollowed look.since then i have started new medication and put on 2 stones in weight.now my face looks bloated.when can i expect the effects of sculptra to start to diminish.i really dont need it now ive put on weight.in fact my face looks puffy and bloated!

Hi Megan.Sculptra causes volume by increasing collagen production and does not affect fat metabolism. It would not be affected by weight gain. If your face is fuller from the weight gain then it's likely your fat cells in the area are storing more fat. Weight loss should bring your facial volume down. About 80% of patients continue to see volume 25 months after Sculptra injection.

I would say the effects from Sculptra may not begin to diminish until about 2-4 years after the treatment.  The amount used and the number of treatments done usually has some influence on the longevity.
