Do you think I have enough submental fat for CoolScupting or the CoolMini? (photos)

If you have small problem areas you can use non invasive methods like Coolsculpting with Vanquish or trusculpt iD to get small areas of fat reduced. Skin also tightens if you combine this with Exilis Ultra, Venus Legacy, and Inmode Forma/Contoura radiofrequency treatments. You boost the results from Coolsculpting if you add in Kybella injections to melt fat as well.  We often combine Coolsculpting with shock therapy like ZWave, EVIVE, and Cellutone to get even faster results, more improvement, and less risk of combinations like nodules, swelling, neuropathy or paradoxical hyperplasia. Coolsculpting often takes a few treatments separated 8 to 12 weeks apart to get significant improvement.   However, to get the most fat removal, contouring, skin tightening and definition, a VASER HI-DEF liposuction / liposculpture procedure with ThermiRF, Renuvion (J-Plasma), InMode BodyTite and fat grafting is your best bet. Hello and thank you for your question. I do not think you have enough fat under your chin for CoolSculpting. I would recommend Morpheus8 for the submental are. It will help contour the jaw and reduce the fat in that area.

Hello and thank you for sharing your pictures. An in person consultation is always recommended. However, It seems that you may be a suitable candidate for treatment. If there is enough volume in the area, we approach treatment with multiple CoolMini applicators with an overlap. This will vary from one person to another. Each applicator will take 45 minutes. This is a great non-invasive option with minimum side effects, mild inflammation in the submental area (layer of fat below the chin). Best of luck.

You could do CoolSculpt Mini if the applicator was able to fit your under chin and attach appropriately to your fat. But for a 25% reduction in the under chin, your results might not be worth the CoolSculpt chase. You may be a better candidate for Kybella, which is deoxycholic acid, that kills fat cells as well. If you are seeking more jawline definition, I would also have you consider Juvederm Voluma filler to the jawline. Looking at your pictures I estimate that CoolSculpting with the Cool Mini is a great option. In our practice we have had tremendous success with the Cool Mini applicator. Results have been favorable with minimum negative side effects. If the mini applicator does not fit directly in the center of the chin there is an option of placing them angled and overlapping the applicators in the center. We have done many patients with this approach and have loved the results. Kybella is an option as well but with Coolsculpting there will be less swelling. I would set up a Coolsculpting Consultation with a provider that has experience with both of these options.

Thank you for your message! Two overlapping applicators is our general approach for stubborn fat under the chin. It is hard to fully asses your skin/fat via pictures alone, but as long as you fit into the applicators, you should be okay to have the procedure! We have never had anyone had fullness in the throat after a procedure, however, it is likely you will have swelling which may make the area feel full!

Hi and thank you for your question! We find Cool Mini to be the best option for non-surgical fat reduction in the submental area, under the chin. We often recommend two overlapping cycles, as this seem to fit better on most people, especially females, as they tend to have a more narrow jawline than males. We also find it to provide a better aesthetic result, in less treatments. As to why you may have been told it was "more uncomfortable", likely because its double the treatment, double the time, etc. We have had any patient complaints or issues with the pattern of treatment. In fact, it seems to be more comfortable than one cycle in many cases, since its overlapping and they cycles are placed at an angle, they don't have to be fitted as snug into and around the center of the neck. Thanks for your question and posting a picture.  We have discontinued Kybella treatments in our practice for melting submental fat.  If you want a non-surgical approach, the FDA recently approved the SculpSure laser for treating submental fat (double chins).  It is a quick 25 minute, completely non-invasive treatment.  In the FDA study, the participants had 100% satisfaction after 1 or 2 treatments.  In the Kybella FDA studies, there is high satisfaction after an average of 6 treatments.  I did SculpSure recently and it was only mildly uncomfortable.  I had no noticeable swelling.  With Kybella, you will have noticeable swelling for 1-4 weeks. 
The treatment cost for 1 SculpSure Submental is less than the average cost of 1 Kybella treatment.  Before you consider CoolScupt, try holding an ice pack under your chin for 4 minutes.  Now think about doing it for an hour.  You have youth on your side.  I'm not sure that you will need any skin tightenng treatments after SculpSure Submental.  Before considering Ultherapy, read the reviews about the high level of pain.  Most patients don't return for their second treatment.  Best of luck.

Looking at your pictures, it seems that you would have enough fat under the chin for CoolSculpting (CS).  However, sometimes the applicator fits better doing it on the sides with an overlap in the middle instead of straight on in the middle.  I have never had anyone have fullness in the throat after a CS mini treatment.  You may have slight swelling of the superficial tissue on the outside afterwards but should not feel anything happening on the inside.  There is minimal to no downtime with CS and usually gives quite nice outcomes.  You could consider Kybella as an option if there is not a lot of fat to grab with the CS applicator too.
