Can lip injections cause perioral dermatitis around the lips as they dissolve?

I was just diagnosed with perioral dermatitis and realize that I've had outbreaks numerous times the last two years, (and never before), which coincides with when I first started receiving Allergen lip injections. Could my outbreaks be caused by the product dissipating?

Thank you for your question.  I personally have not seen this in my practice. If you desire to continue receiving injections in the future, it may be beneficial to try another manufacturer of hyaluronic acid fillers such as Galderma products. Best of luck to you!

Thank you for sharing your question.  Without photographs it is difficult to comment but since dermal fillers are typically injected into the red portion of the lips it would be unusual to have the issue on the surrounding normal skin.  That said you may want to discuss this with your injector who could patch test other skin with the filler to see if you have a reaction in that site.  Hope this helps.
