Hello! I am looking to schedule lipo 360 but I am torn on whether or not I need a tummy tuck for my lower belly bulge. Will Renuvion be sufficient to tighten this area after lipo?
Answer: Abdomen Part of your bulge appears to be muscles and EMSculpt done after liposuction could be very helpful to tighten your abdominal wall. Do the liposuction first.

Answer: How to fix your belly? What you need is a high definition body contouring procedure that will combine VASER liposuction with a modified abdominal skin resection to eliminate both the upper and lower abdominal skin redundancy. Renuvion won't work. A mini tummy tuck will also not work since you have skin redundancy above the belly button as well as below the belly button. Additionally, your belly button is low and will be pulled too low with a mini. Please consider a virtual consultation to get a more definitive recommendation.

Answer: Considering options If your goal is a tighter, flatter tummy you will need to consider a standard tummy tuck. This will address subcutaneous fat, excess skin, and correct abdominal wall laxity. Liposuction can be added for extra contouring if desired. See a board certified plastic surgeon for a consultation to learn more.

Answer: Abdominal assessment There are four tissue variables that determine what the abdomen looks like. The choice of treatment should be based on having a clear understanding of which tissue variables are causing the problem. The four variables that determine what the abdomen looks like our abdominal skin laxity due to previous pregnancies or weight loss, excess subcutaneous fat, muscle separation from previous pregnancies and excess visceral or intra-abdominal fat. Based on your picture, you have a typical pregnancy related changes which are skin laxity and muscle separation. To get a tight, flat abdomen you’ll need a full tummy tuck. Your subcutaneous fat layer is not particularly thick and Liposuction will not have impressive outcomes. Do not expect Renuvion to make a significant visible difference. If you want a pre-pregnancy, a appearing abdomen, your best option is a full tummy tuck, despite the drawbacks and inconvenience of the procedure. A mini tummy tuck will address skin laxity of the lower abdomen, but would not address your muscle separation, which is causing your abdominal wall to bulge. I suggest having multiple in person, consultations with local board-certified plastic surgeons in your community. Best, Mats Hagstrom, MD
