Can I get fat transfer only under the eyes without lower blepharoplasty?

I have tried filler, but because I have allergies it was constantly swollen. I do not need lower blepharoplasty as I don't have any fat bags, but am having a hard time finding a doctor that does fat transfer only.

Hi Melissa, I cautiously perform a lot of fat grafting to the lower eyelids in conjunction with the whole upper face. I have never performed an isolated lower lid fat grafting because studies have shown this treatment has a very low satisfaction rate with a relative high complication risk. This is because the lower eyelid region is the most delicate and prone to complication on the whole face. It has the thinnest skin and is very unforgiving. Fat grafting even in the best of hands is relatively unpredictable. So when you combine these two principles, Im not surprised you are having difficulty finding respectable surgeons happy to do the fat grafting alone. It is usually best used as an "icing on the cake" in conjunction with other surgery that concurrently and more predictable addresses prominent fat or loose skin. Sorry to come across a nay sayer but I think it is good for you to be empowered with expert opinion. Best regards.

Yes, fat can be transferred under the eye.  For the most natural looking results it should also be blended to the cheek and malar fat pads.  Feel free to send photos.  There are not a lot of doctors to specialize in fat transfer, so you are correct in that it may be difficult to find physicians near you depending where you live.

Yes, with an experienced surgeon this is a routine procedure.  However technique is important and experience helpful.  Filler does cause swelling in some patients that is problematic. No have personally been doing fat transfer to the lower eyes for 20 years and do it alone or in combination with blepharoplasty more than once/ week.  Complications are unusual and treatable.

Please be aware that there are multiple reports in the world literature of permanent blindness caused by lower eyelid injections of either filler or fat. Are you sure you want to take on that risk?
