After the lip lift what is the recovery time to eating solid foods? Also, I am performer -- should I figure I have to take a month off from performing to feel comfortable again on stage?
Answer: Lip Lift Post-Op I advise my lip lift patients to stick to soft foods for the first few days after surgery. You should expect some swelling and your mouth may also still feel a bit tight for the first few weeks. Given that you are a performer, one month seems like the perfect amount of time to give yourself for feeling "comfortable" again on stage.Be sure to consult with board certified plastic surgeons and best wishes!

Answer: Recovery time minimal with lip lift Patients can eat regular diet immediately after a lip lift without problems. I tell patients to avoid putting makeup on the incision line for at least a couple weeks until it has healed. Taking a month off should be more than enough. The technique I perform uses a clear pull-out suture that is removed at 2 weeks and is not as visible as external skin sutures. This allows you to return to regular activities sooner.Best Wishes,Gary Horndeski, M.D.

Answer: Lip Lift Recovery Postoperatively, after a lip lift, you can anticipate bruising and swelling that will be noticeable to you and others for about 1 week. After the sutures are removed or dissolve, depending on the type used, there will be redness along the incision line for 4-6 weeks but this can be covered with makeup. Sometimes the upper lip lift is overcorrected with the initial procedure and will slowly assume its final position over weeks to months. I recommend softer foods for 1-2 weeks. As far as performance on stage goes, it depends on your comfort level during recovery, but I would say about 2 weeks off. Consult with an experienced lip surgeon for a complete range of options that are appropriate for your situation. Gary Linkov, MD

Answer: How long does one need to take off work after a lip lift? The recover from a lip lift is quick, but I usually I ask patient to take off for a week to two weeks if they don't want anyone to know they had the procedure. After two weeks make up could hide the scars. You also want to avoid doing anything that would stretch the lip from the nose. I use deep dissolving sutures, that would keep the skin together after the surface suture are remove by the 6th day after the procedure, but the repair will not be strong until 4 to 6 weeks. This is basic wound healing time that can not be changed. Many patients go to work the next day if they don't mind explaining what they had done or simply tell everyone that they had something removed from the area and that's why they have stitches.

Answer: Upper lip lift Following the upper lip surgery, I tell my patients to eat a normal diet. There is an initial 2-3 days of moderate swelling, but there are no restrictions on types of food to eat. As far as performing, in addition to the swelling, there is some redness beneath the nose that can persist for 4-6 weeks. Of course, after the first week you can hide the incision with make-up. Good luck
