Answer: Pointy Chin Correction Based upon the photo, you do not appear to have a pointy chin. Recommend that you schedule a consultation appointment with a board certified plastic surgeon who has performed numerous chin surgeries with successful outcomes. The plastic surgeon can perform a quick physical examination of your chin, review your medical history, and discuss all of the surgical options. The consultation will provide time for you to ask questions, better understand the chin augmentation process, the intended results, and any possible complications.Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA

Answer: Should you get it fixed? Without an exam your question cannot be answered. You will need to see an Oral/Maxillofacial surgeon to see if othognathic surgery, genioplasty or using an implant is best for your specific case. It should be noted that patients with severely weak jaws or abnormally functioning jaws may be better treated with other facial surgery (orthognathic surgery), although a chin augmentation may be an option at a later time. These patients should seek the advice of a plastic surgeon to determine which course is right for them. Here is some information to help you make this decision: Candidates for Chin Augmentation - Patients whose chin profiles are weak but have normally functioning jaws are candidates for Chin Augmentation. Many of these candidates have used injectable fillers in the past to strengthen the protrusion of their chins, but are looking for a permanent solution. If you are one of these patients, then you are a likely candidate for chin augmentation #weakchin #chinimplant

Answer: Chin size Hello,There are many patients that would love to have your chin profile. However, what is most important is how you feel. To deal with this issue, I have patients bring in pictures of chin images they like and do not like. I also do computer morphing which helps with communication. Hope this helps!Dr. K

Answer: Chin shaping Based on this profile view I do not have impression that your chin is pointy at all. Series of profile, 3/4 and front views will help as well as in-person evaluation would help to determine true nature of your problem. Good luck.

Answer: True, but not only Your chin is over prominent anteriorly, but also too short vertically, therefore you need a two dimensional osseus genioplasty: -anterior reduction -vertical lengthening I did not see your anterior horizontal width, may it need additional changes or stay unchanged can be discussed. One old fox trick is using the sliced bone in the deprojection to augment the vertical height; other option is performing an oblique backwards sliding genioplaty, but this one poses the risk of producing upper neck / mouth floor muscles flaccidity and a subsidiary double chin deformity, so I am more prone for the two dimensional genioplasty. Under no circumstances you should accept chin implants or fillers, very problematic and unable to perform the work you need. Chin shaving would procude a droopy chin deformity, a very dangerous technique, and would not increase terribly short vertical height (do you imagine your chin only deprojected and as short as it is now?). If you wish better grounded opinion please do post or send privately well lit, focused and standard images: frontal, both lateral and both oblique views. Feel free to request any additional information from me.
