Each have their own pros and cons. A chin implant can give you more customization of your look. It can help projection, width and increase vertical height. Filler can improve projection and width but is less effective in increasing vertical height. When filler is injected into the soft tissue of the chin, a "Witch's Chin" can become apparent, especially with smiling. Furthermore, the results obtained with implants are generally more dramatic than those obtained with filler alone.

Without an implant or a sliding genioplasty your degree of chin shortness can not be adequately treated by injectable fillers alone.

In many cases fillers and fat transfer achieve results the equal and often better than implants. In your situation where there is no other alternative they do offer a noticeable improvement. However, assuming the photo is you, you are young, have relatively tight skin in the chin area, and want a very great degree of augmentation as your goal an implant will come much closer to your goal. A careful exam of you is needed to give a definitive recommendation.

No, fillers are designed to augment soft tissue, while  a chin implant is designed to augment the bony mandible. Fillers do not work very well in the chin area because of this issue. They are also very temporary in that location. Chin implants usually placed under local anesthesia as an outpatient procedure which takes approximately 30 minutes with very minimal blood loss.   Hi, I am sorry to hear about your health issues.  From the photo, your chin is very weak and the nose is a bit large with a dorsal hump.  The after "simulated" photo decreased the hump on the nose as well as provided forward projection to the chin.  I have performed many facial shaping procedures, including Chin Augmentation with dermal fillers or silastic chin implants, for over the 30 years.  When the chin is weak, this creates an imbalance making the nose appear larger, the mid face top heavy, the lower face looks short, de-emphasizes the lips and allows early formation of a "double chin".  
 I do use a dermal filler to augment the chin in instances where patients want to "see" what a forward projected chin would look like as it corrects their weak chin.  While shaping the chin with a dermal filler is a good option, it will not be able to produce the same results as a perfectly shaped silastic chin implant.  However, it "will" be able to significantly improve your weak chin....assuming that you are healthy enough to have an HA dermal filler.  The following information on silastic chin implants is included for comparison in case your health improves allowing this as an option.   The silastic chin implant adds forward projection to the chin thereby creating harmony and balance to the lower face.  Using the same incision, liposuction can be performed to reduce the fat and further shape the neck.  Excess skin, from below the chin, can also be removed through the same incision.  
 I have found that placement of a silastic chin implant, through a small curved incision under the chin (also allows excess skin removal) to be very safe, quick, highly effective and far less invasive than a sliding genioplasty.  I perform chin implant surgery in 30 minutes or less, often using a local anesthetic alone.  Hope this helps.

One can add volume to the chin but with fillers but you cannot get the same definition as you would with an implant. especially in a patient like you with a very weak chin. It would be helpful to know about your medical condition because an implant may be possible even though jaw surgery is not.
