Chin implant removal ASAP! I week post-op - already decided to get it removed.

Question

I'm so upset as my wishes before this implant were to just improve my profile not my front. I want my old face back and have made this clear. However, I am very scared of the effects that could happen to my chin after he removes it. He used a large implant. What are the odds of having a witches chin or dimples afterwards? I'm scheduled to have it removed in two weeks which will put me at 3 weeks post op. My PS said there won't be any after effects but he also told me I'd love my new chin...

Silastic chin implants can easily and safely be removed at anytime. In looking at the photos that you provided the implant does provide you with a more balanced facial appearance. I would suggest waiting until the swelling diminishes before making such a quick decision. You might want to ask your close friends or people that you trust about their opinion about your appearance. Ultimately, it is your decision. Good luck

My recommendation would be to wait at least 3-6 months before deciding if you like your current implant or not.  You still have significant swelling which is altering your true appearance.  Whether you have the implant removed now, in 2 weeks or in 6 months should not make any difference in how you would look after the removal.  Your appearance should return to what it was before the implant was placed.

I understand you are frightened and not use to the new look.  You have swelling and this will subside over time.  If you still want the implant removed, waiting another 2 weeks is reasonable.

Nooooooooo, You need to wait, You are looking at a lot of swelling in your neck which will all go away. Looking at the lateral you look just perfect except fotr the swelling. It would be a mistake to do anything. Just be patient for once.

Hi, it's important to remember that at 1 week, your chin is still swollen and will take a couple of months to achieve its final shape.  I have performed many facial shaping procedures, including Chin Augmentation with dermal fillers or silastic chin implants, for over the 30 years.  If you have the chin implant removed within months after placement your chin should return to its preoperative shape, especially if the implant was placed through a small incision under the chin.  Although your chin is very weak, I typically won't use a large implant in women but rather prefer using a medium EAC placed as described below.   The silastic chin implant adds forward projection to the chin thereby creating harmony and balance to the lower face.  Using the same incision, liposuction can be performed to reduce the fat and further shape the neck.  Excess skin, from below the chin, can also be removed through the same incision.  I have found that placement of a silastic chin implant, through a small curved incision under the chin (also allows excess skin removal) to be very safe, quick, highly effective and far less invasive than a sliding genioplasty.  The chin implant surgery is performed in 30 minutes or less, often using a local anesthetic alone.  In my opinion, you are a good candidate for chin implant surgery.  Hope this helps.
