Answer: Is hair loss after 1 PRP treatment normal?? Ask Dr Ellen That's a little too early to tell. It generally takes a couple of months to see the shift from using PRP. And keep in mind, it is best to follow through with a 2nd and 3rd treatment to see the true benefit for you.Other considerations are to add on finasteride and minoxidil to your routine.Thank you.In good health,Ellen Mahony, MD

Answer: Continued Hair loss,PRP; Englewood cliffs nj In my opinion, hair loss from male pattern baldness should decrease within the first month or two after PRP. It is possible that you have a different diagnosis and I would see a hair loss expert. Should you have androgenic alopecia, 20-30 hairs per day is not significant. Consider adding finasteride or minoxidil to your program to speed up the results. PRPHAIRMD.COM

Answer: Hairloss following PRP I am sorry to hear that you are still loosing hair following your first PRP treatment- I appreciate that this is frustrating. Rest assured, however, that this is not uncommon. Results from PRP are not typically noticeable for the first 3 months while some patients do not see a benefit for even longer- between 3 and 6 months. During this time, many providers recommend a series of 3 PRP treatments spaced 6 weeks apart for best results. One treatment of PRP is typically not enough to see a noticeable difference and certainly not within the first week. Hang in there! I hope this information helps ease your mind but it is always best to discuss these concerns with the medical provider who performed your treatment as well. Not everyone is a good candidate for this treatment so please see a Board Certified or Board Eligible Plastic Surgeon to evaluate if you may benefit. Good luck! Answer: PRP and hair loss Typically patients will need multiple treatments with PRP before an effect is noted. I typically recommend a series of 3 treatments (4-6 weeks apart) followed by yearly or biannual maintenance therapies. The results can vary from halting of hair loss, thickening of residual hair and hair regrowth. The outcome is variable from patient to patient and likely dependent upon the concentration of growth factors etc. in the PRP.As always, discuss your concerns with a board certified plastic surgeon (ABPS) with experience in hair restoration.
