Is a C-section and Tummy tuck possible at same time?

Hello, technically it is feasible to do both operations at the same time, but you would probably get a better cosmetic result if you allow your abdomen to fully heal, determine what (if anything) requires correction, and have this done at a later date.

You should hold off getting abdominoplasty until at least then. This usually requires about six months.All the best. 

A tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty, removes excess skin and tightens the abdominal muscles. Immediately after pregnancy the skin and muscles will be at their most lax, and the uterus will not yet have returned to its normal size. Waiting to have an abdominoplasty until you have fully healed from pregnancy will give a better final result.Best of luck to your!

This sounds so great in theory, but in reality is not a good idea. Your body goes through many changes during the nine months of pregnancy and it needs time to return to a baseline. It's best if you wait a minimum of six months after you have your baby before considering a tummy tuck.

Hi, Babygirl07.  I would not recommend undergoing tummy tuck and c-section at the same time.  Right after c-section/delivery, your uterus is still enlarged for 6 weeks.  With mini-tummy tuck or full tummy tuck, an optimal result cannot be achieved on the day of c-section.  Body contouring procedure is best performed to give the best outcome when you have reached your stable goal weight.  Please visit a board-certified plastic surgeon to learn about tummy tuck and timing.  Best wishes with your c-section!

I agree with the prior physicians, I have my patients wait atleast 6 months after C-sections to get to their desired weight.

Assuming patients have completed pregnancies I ask them to achieve their long-term stable weight and be stable physically, psychosocially, financially,emotionally... prior to any tummy tuck surgery (this may take 6 to 12 months after C-section). Allow yourself time to heal after the c-section and enjoy your time with your baby. Best wishes.

Thank you for your question. It might be possible to do this but I do not think it is advisable. I make my patients wait at least 6 months after giving birth to have their tummy tuck, The reason is that your uterus will contract, you will lose weight, and your skin will also contract. All of these changes make the abdomen look different. I feel you will get the best results if you allow these natural changes to happen first, then correct what needs correcting . Best of luck.

Greetings,All of your tissues are stretched and your weight is less than optimal at the time of your delivery. I would suggest that it would be safer to wait until you have recovered your strength and lost as much of your weight (as is possible) gained in pregnancy:  Some women can recover quite nicely in 6-9 months and need little or no surgical correction. Other women, who are contemplating another child, might consider waiting until they have had their last pregnancy. Another pregnancy can ruin the tummy tuck result.My best advice would be to discuss your desires with an experienced Board Certified Plastic surgeon in your area.
