I had a rhinoplasty about 7 months ago with terrible results unfortunately. I think I have a saddle and an open roof deformity due to the fact that too much cartilage was removed. My dorsum is basically flat, wide and dorsal lines which used to be well defined are basically invisible now. I'm wondering what are the chances that a revision rhinoplasty with rib grafts can give me back a frontview that kind of resembles my old nose and a straight profile. Thanks in advance for your answers
Answer: Is it time for revision rhinoplasty? Here's what you need to know Hello, and thank you for your question. Full results from rhinoplasty are achieved in 12-14 months. At 9 months, your nose may still have some swelling, and it will still change. If after a full year you still notice the deformity, you should have it evaluated. You may need a revision rhinoplasty. Revision rhinoplasty is an even more complex procedure than primary rhinoplasty, and you will need a skilled surgeon to perform it. I recommend scheduling an in-person consultation with a reputable board-certified facial plastic surgeon, particularly one with a strong rhinoplasty portfolio. Such experts will have unique skills and experience when it comes to the function and aesthetics of the nose that enables them to improve their patients’ nasal concerns. During your consultation, your surgeon will evaluate your nose, determine your eligibility for revision rhinoplasty, recommend the best approach, and ensure the best possible outcome.

Answer: Revision rhinoplasty Thank you for your question. The most important thing you can do when considering a revision rhinoplasty is to find a board-certified facial plastic surgeon specializing in this procedure. Rhinoplasty is one of the most difficult operations performed by plastic surgeons and therefore you need to be seen by someone who performs the operation often. I recommend you consult with a board-certified facial plastic surgeon for an in-person examination and discussion of your goals and options going forward. Best of luck!

Answer: Do I have a saddle nose? Thank you for your question. I’m sorry to hear that you’re unhappy with your rhinoplasty results. I would give yourself a full year to heal. The tip is likely to swollen and this may change your overall profile. Keep in contact with your surgeon. If this is not an option, then I would wait the full year, or at least close to a year, and find a board certified specialist with extensive experience in revision rhinoplasty. And most cases, revision rhinoplasty can bring your nose back to its form and function that you were hoping for. Best of luck, Dr. E
