Uneven nostrils 9 months after surgery - can this be fixed? (Photos)

I had rhinoplasty 9 months ago and my nose tip continues to be uneven and my nostrils asymmetrical , can this be fixed ? Is it because nose tip continues to be a little swollen ?

Hello, and thank you for your question. Rhinoplasty results are only truly definitive after a full year after the procedure, around 12-14 months. Your nose may indeed still have some swelling, and it could change more. If after a full year you still have asymmetry issues, you should have it evaluated. You may need a revision rhinoplasty. Revision rhinoplasty is an even more complex procedure than primary rhinoplasty. I recommend scheduling an in-person consultation with a reputable board-certified facial plastic surgeon, particularly one with a strong rhinoplasty portfolio. Such experts will have a deep understanding of the aesthetic and functional elements of the nose while having an eye for symmetry and balance. Your surgeon will give your nose a proper assessment, customize the best approach to address your concerns and goals, and help ensure the best possible results.

It would be very helpful to see several more photos of your nose, and even better to examine your nose in person, because just based on the photos you’ve posted, it’s difficult to tell. The tip can take a very long time for the swelling to go down – up to a full year in some cases. You might want to “watch and wait.” If after 12 months, you are still not satisfied with the tip, then you might want to undergo another surgery, but this would depend on the physical exam at that point. Continue to follow up with your surgeon for at least one year. I’m sure your surgeon will be supportive through this process, as our job/passion is (or should be!) to help our patients. If your surgeon is not expert in revision rhinoplasty, please seek out a true expert in this field, since the skill set required is much more involved than what is needed to perform a primary rhinoplasty.
