Anterior lumbar fusion after Tummy tuck?

I am not sure how they usually approach
the spine from anterior . . . I am surprised they are using your tummy
tuck incision as I would have anticipated a vertical incision for exposure. So
at least you will not have an extra scar. Your muscles will likely not be
undone by the operation as well. So my guess is that once you are healed, your
results will not be dramatically changed. Having said that, they will have to do whatever they need to get your spine repaired.

It will be important to express your concerns to the surgeon performing the lumbar fusion. If your surgeon is careful and takes into consideration your concerns you should be able to undergo the lumbar fusion without compromising the good results you have enjoyed from your tummy tuck. The only thing that you can do postoperatively to help ensure a good result to closely follow your surgeon's postoperative instructions and keep your wound clean. Good luck
