Answer: What to tell your employer Thank you very much for sharing your concerns with us.You can tell that you are going to undergo a surgical procedure without specifying which, since it is part of your privacy. If you need to fill a form where diagnosis and treatment is sought, these fields are filled in codes of the "International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems" (ICD-10), and it is carried to the appropriate department, who know how to interpret.Kind regards, Dr. Emmanuel Mallol Cotes.-

Answer: Disclosure of your procedure Hello, some employers will not ask for the exact operation that was performed so you might be able to state that you simply had an operation on your abdomen. Others will want specific information, forms filled out, surgical notes, etc. It is important to understand that if you give your surgeon consent to fill out any of these forms, they must be factually correct.

Answer: Be vague but honest regarding your surgery Thank you for your question. What you tell your employer is up to you. If you have to submit something in writing, I recommend that you be honest but you can also be vague. You could say something like 'female surgery.' Most employers then won't ask. If you need to fill out forms that your surgeon must sign or provide information, do not ask him/her to falsify any information for your benefit. They must be honest in completing the forms. I would get the forms ahead of time to find out exactly what information is required. Be sure to see a board certified plastic surgeon.
