It seems like laser technology is always improving, so I'm curious to find the most effective treatment for broken capillaries and general aging on the chest. A medical assistant at my dermatologist's office did a quick once over on my chest with the VBEAM laser, but I don't see any noticeable improvement. A two minute treatment didn't seem like a good value (for $450) and I wondered if the treatment was thorough enough, and if it's even the best technology out there?
Answer: Lasers for Broken Capillaries and Sun Spots on Chest Thank you for your question. Lasers are very good at targeting red and brown spots, and improving texture on the chest. Our office has over 50 lasers and we use a combination approach to treat red spots and overall photodamage on the chest. For instance, I would recommend the V-Beam for the broken capillaries, or the intense-pulsed light (IPL) therapy to treat both broken capillaries and sunspots effectively. You can also combine other non-ablative fractional lasers to help with overall texture of the skin on the chest. Positive results take a couple of weeks to appear in most cases, and you may need a series of treatment sessions to obtain your optimal outcome. I encourage you to make an appointment with a board-certified dermatologist that offers this treatment to determine if this is the best approach for you.

Answer: Laser for Sun Damage Thanks for your question and I’m sorry you didn’t get the results you wanted with your initial treatment. At my practice, we tend to prefer intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy or pulsed dye laser (PDL) for treating both visible vessels and pigmentation spots. The multiple wavelengths of light target both the blood in the vessels and the melanin in the pigment to eliminate both of these concerns. You will likely need more than one treatment session to achieve full results, but this device can be used as safely on the delicate skin of the chest as it is on the face. Make sure you choose a board-certified cosmetic dermatologist with extensive experience in these treatments to ensure an optimal outcome.

Answer: Broken Capillaries on Chest I really like the IPL laser from Inmode. It does need several treatments but works well on broken capillaries, sun spots, and sun damage. For chest we charge nearly half what you paid. Also, there is no downtime with this procedure.

Answer: Redness/Broken Capillaries -- Vascular Lasers (Yellow, Excel V, V Beam, Aerolase, Venus Versa IPL), LightStim Light The best treatments for capillary issues are vascular lasers such as pulsed dye laser, Excel V, aerolase, Venus Versa IPL, laser genesis or yellow laser. Settings are determined on a per case basis, it is best to consult with an expert to determine the best settings for you. I suggest discussing this with the physician performing the treatment. We often combine vascular lasers with non ablative fractional lasers such as clear and brilliant or venus viva for better results. For pigmentation, this would need a combination approach of peels like cosmelan, lasers like clear and brilliant and aerolase or laser genesis, radiofrequency like venus viva, and constant skin care and sun protection. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Broken Capillaries & Brown Spots The Vbeam laser is definitely the best treatment for broken capillaries. The Alexandrite is the best laser when it comes to brown spots. This resurfacing treatment will work to quickly eliminate deeper brown spots, leaving the skin clear and youthful. Depending on the selected course of treatment, downtime can vary from two to five days—which can be customized to fit your schedule and your needs. This laser can be used on the face, chest, hands, arms and legs.
