Fat grafting result is unlikely to be adversely affected by your exercising. However, you could cause slightly increase swelling and bruising with vigorous exercise.Do not feel guilty, your results will be fine.
Not to worry, you will be fine. There is no evidence to suggest that exercise a week after the procedure will affect your results. My patients routinely go back to exercise after a week and I tell them if they feel any strain or extra swelling, then to stop. Is there something that has occurred since you exercised that is making you worried? If you developed some extra swelling after the exercise, that just means that you should slow down a bit and rest a little more as the area that was worked on is still settling down. Do discuss your concerns with your plastic surgeon.
It may cause more swelling however. I tell patients to avoid any exercise where they lie down flat and use a lot of exertion as this may cause more swelling. If you did light aerobic exercise and were upright, can't imagine this will cause any long term problems with your recovery.
Most likely you have just prolonged your recovery with regards to bruising and swelling. There is not a clear answer as to the proper protocol for fat transfer. You should discuss this with your surgeon.
I would really recommend taking it easy for the next couple of weeks. Exercise can delay the improvement in your swelling. The fat shouldn't move around with moderate exercise, and I wouldn't fret too much if you have already exercised.
Fat transfer is done with blunt tipped fat injection cannulas. Because of this most of my patients are swollen, but usually not bruised. If you work out, you increase blood flow to all of your body, not just the area you are working out. If you had bruising, this will make the bruising worse. Regardless at one week you have swelling still, and I would expect the swelling to get worse.I usually do not allow aerobic activity until your body is ready for it. Your body will signal this by bruise being fully resolved and by swelling being down to normal again.Long term effect? Likely not much other than it taking longer for the swelling and bruise to go away, but without seeing you and knowing the details it is hard to know.
Discuss this matter with your surgeon. You may have swelling and bruising from exercise. Best wishes.
Swelling will be more of an issue than anything else. If it was combined with open procedures like a facelift, then you could have been at risk of developing a hematoma.
Tissue expanders are not used for fat transfer. Why not? It seems like a good idea to stretch the tissue to make space for the fat to be placed with little pressure on the new fat. (A tissue expander is something different than an external device like BRAVA)Tissue expanders are a...
