Can I get a second tummy tuck after gaining 20 pounds?

It's been a year since I got a Tummy tuck and gained 20 pounds since I weighed after surgery. Can I get a second tummy tuck. If I decide to lose weight and maintain I'm afraid it will loosen skin and I might need a revision

In your situation, it is often best to proceed with liposuction and then excision of any loose skin at the old scar. An examination by a board-certified plastic surgeon would be able to better evaluate the situation and review your options. It is unlikely you would require a full second tummy tuck.

Thanks for your inquiry, but withhout pictures it is hard to advise.  Simply stated it is safe to have a second tummy tuck but please disucss with your plastic surgeon if another procedure like liposuction or even something less invasive may deliver the results you are looking for, good luck.

It is possible to get a second tummy tuck after substantial weight gain and loss or pregnancy. The most important factor to determine this is whether or not there is excess skin. Sometimes liposuction is sufficient.

Yes, you can certainly undergo further body contouring surgery once you have achieved your long-term stable weight.  Exactly what operation you will benefit from will depend on your physical examination, at that time. For example, some patients in your situation may benefit from further liposuction surgery. We do not know what you actually weighed before surgery.   It would help us to know that.   20 lbs in a year is quite a bit to gain.   Best guess advice (since no info on weights before and after) is to lose weight and then reassess.     It is very unlikely you will have loose skin.  My Best,  Dr Commons
