I have very veiny hands. My veins are always prominent, whether I workout or not. I have heard about doing fillers in the back of the hands. Do y’all provide this service here?

Thank you for your question and photo. A common reason why hands become veiny is that the skin on the back of the hands starts to thin due to collagen loss. We often see these changes sooner than other aging symptoms because the skin on the hands is delicate to begin with and often exposed to the sun and other environmental factors. 
Because thin skin is frequently the culprit, filler injected into the back of the hands can restore the necessary fullness to minimize the appearance of the veins. I often use Radiesse for this purpose because it has a nice thick consistency for the hands and offers long-lasting results. Make sure you work with a board-certified dermatologist who has expertise in this procedure to ensure an optimal result.

It’s important to distinguish between varicose veins and spider veins when choosing between laser therapy, sclerotherapy, and vein surgery. Prominent veins on the hands are due to thinning skin caused by collagen loss as well as fat, giving that aged, boney appearance and exposing the veins. While this is a natural byproduct of aging, it can be cosmetically distressing for some people and can be a giveaway as to your true age.,   especially if you’ve had cosmetic treatments to your face and look younger. Fillers are a the best noninvasive method of restoring youthful fullness to the hands and diminishing the appearance of these vessels. Both Radiesse and Restylane Lyft are FDA approved for this use and work to smooth the skin and hide the veins. It is often best that a cannula is used to inject the filler in order to minimize the risk of injuring the veins and bruising. I encourage you to find a board-certified physician that is also a recognized expert in filler treatments to ensure the best possible outcome for you. Good luck!

Prominent hand veins are normal and functioning but can be treated with sclerotherapy and/or a microphlebectomy on an out patient basis as a short office based procedure.  Fillers are an option but you will be back for more in a few months.  If you want long lasting treatment, see a vein specialist who also treats hand veins.
