Vertical lines on forehead? Can I do filler in forehead or do I need something else? (photo)

I appreciate your photos and question. The lines you are referring to are most commonly caused by sleeping position. I would recommend a fractional non-ablative laser or RF microneedling to help improve the appearance of these lines. Also-silk pillows are really good and preventing these type of wrinkles!  I encourage you to make an appointment with a board-certified cosmetic dermatologist that can assess you in person and help you design a customized treatment plan that will address your concerns and give you the results you want.

A filler like Belotero may be able to help lift the creases on your forehead. If the lines do not resolve from changing your sleeping position, this may be an option to consider. Laser may be able to help improve your skin's elasticity.  Botox is made for superficial fine lines, like this. Botox can only help with lines caused by facial expressions. 

Fillers can help soften the vertical forehead lines, but will not completely eliminate them. Laser resurfacing may help further improve them, but there is more downtime. Make sure you see an experienced physician for an in-person examination. Best wishes.

Thank you for sharing your excellent question and photographs.  These mechanical lines are most likely the result of your sleeping habits and should improve if you can avoid sleeping on your sides.  Whatever does not fully resolve then fillers, chemical peels, or micro needling may improve their appearance.  Hope this helps.

Neuromodulators like Botox, Dysport and Xeomin and soft tissue fillers like Belotero can improve the appearance of the forehead by reducing lines, wrinkles and folds. Deeper lines and wrinkles need a combination approach with Botox, fillers, lasers, and microneedling/PRP. Filler is not generally used in the forehead due to risk. There are important vessels which if injected inadvertently could result in blindness. You may want to explore treatments such as Morpheus8. This treatment combines RF technology with microneedling to improve overall skin tone and texture. Laser resurfacing is another option.

Thank you for the photos.. Typically, vertical lines on the face and forehead are from sleeping position. Horizontal lines are from facial expression. It is more than likely years of sleeping on your side that has caused the vertical line. Botox can not fix vertical lines... You will need filler to solve this problem.

Hello. Thank you for your question. Typically it is not safe to put filler in the forehead or between the eyes. If Botox did not help your lines, a great option for you would be smooth threads. These would help regrow collagen in the area to pop out those lines. Threads will not give you instant results. It takes a full 3 months to see what they've done, and you may need a second treatment after. But the results should last you a few years until you lose the collagen again.

From your photos, it appears that these are lines are likely from your sleeping position. They may be improved using a facial mask or attempting to alter your nightly sleeping position by using bolsters or pillows on your sides. While Botox, lasers, and fillers will improve the lines, mechanical lines like these are difficult to treat unless you are able to adjust your sleeping position going forward.Best wishes,Pamela Stuart, MD
