About 2 month ago I got Botox injected above my upper lip to cause my upper lip to roll out. I heard Botox in this specific area wears off very quickly, anywhere from 6 weeks-3 months. It was also my first time ever doing Botox as well, which I heard causes Botox to wear off quicker than usual. My question is, would it be okay to get Botox injected now (2 months after) in the same area again or do you have to wait a certain amount of time to inject Botox in the same area again?

Answer: Timeline for repeat Botox dosing? You are spot on in your summary of treatment and wear time for Botox, particularly the "lip flip". Neurotoxin (Botox, Dysport, Xeomin) all attach themselves to the junction between the nerve and the muscle. Muscles with more movement can have a tendency to "wear off" quicker--and lets face it: your mouth moves a LOT (talking, laughing, smiling, eating, kissing, etc)! Another consideration is the quantity of toxin used--generally very little is needed around the month so consequently the effect dissipates faster. If you feel the effects have faded at 2 months you are probably safe to repeat your treatment. In my opinion, better to get a little in this area more frequently than get too much at one time and lose your ability to snicker! Thank you for posting your question! Stay gorgeous! Teri Scott, ARNP
