1 week after can you tell if a droopy eyelid or brow will result from Botox? Are there signs? (photo)

Question

I got Botox for the first time 7 days ago by a board certified dermotologist who I go to regularly. So far I hate the feeling of Botox and my right eye has been feeling heavier and stranger than my left eye. I still have swelling under my eyes, forehead feels tight and I am terrified I will get a droopy eye or eyebrow droop on my right side. Do you think this could still happen ? My dermo is away this week and I am so anxious. Can you tell if a droop is coming ?

There are no signs to indicate if a droopy eyelid or brow is coming after a Botox treatment.  Although it can take 1-2 weeks to see the full effects from a Botox treatment, I would say that it is unlikely that you would develop a droopy eyelid or brow if you have not seen it after a week.  The heavy feeling you have is not uncommon and usually improves fairly quickly.

It can take up to two weeks for you to see your final result from your Botox treatment but based on your photo it doesn't appear this is occurring.  The heavy feeling you describe often relents over the first few weeks. Since it is your first treatment you may want to follow up with your injector after two weeks to discuss your results.

It can take up to two weeks for your full BOTOX results to fully develop, so you will get a better picture of what your final results will look like around the two-week mark. For now, I wouldn’t worry too much. The heavy feeling you’ve described can be normal and isn’t necessarily an indication of any complications or side effects. It is difficult to predict if your eyebrow will droop or not.  You will not know for sure until about 2 weeks after your injection when the full effects of the Botox come in.  The first time you receive Botox, the feeling of not being able to move is uncomfortable.  This heaviness will wear off over time.   If you continue to have concerns, I would recommend scheduling a follow up with your provider to go over your results and provide any touch ups if necessary.

Hello. Thank you for your question. It does not appear that your eye is drooping from your picture. It takes a full two weeks for the Botox to kick in completely. Especially this being the first time you've ever had Botox, some areas may just be reacting quicker than others. I would give it the full two weeks before you start to worry. If in two weeks you have some drooping, go back to your injector so that they can fix it. Usually by the end of the two weeks everything should even out and feel better.

It is common for the eye leads to feel heavy following botulinum injections like Botox,  Dysport,  Xeomin and Jeuveau. My recommendation is waiting the full two weeks post injection to make that determination.  This can be adjusted with injections along the sides of your eyes to raise the eye brow. Best from Boston,  Dr. Onir
