Is it safe to get Restylane fillers in the lips if you’re taking antibiotics for a bladder infection/UTI?

Taking antibiotics is not a problem with respect to getting fillers in the lips, but I would avoid introducing any foreign material into the body while you are fighting an infection due to the risk (however low) of getting an infection at the injection site. Waiting a week or two for the infection to resolve is the safest course of action.

I recommend following up with your injector, but you can have lip fillers while taking antibiotics. I prefer to use a micro cannula to inject the lips to prevent bruising. Look for a cosmetic dermatologist or plastic surgeon who is an expert in fillers to discuss your desired results and concerns and go over the cost of your procedure.

Facial fillers are injections to improve the contours of your face. This elective and cosmetic procedure should be reserved for when you are healthy. While you are sick, your body does not tolerate extra treatments as well. Although the risk of a problem is low, it is not worth the trouble. I would hold off until you are in good health again for a safe and happy result. Safety comes first.

Oral antibiotics are not a contraindication to Restylane, however you would want to consult with your injector before having anything done.

Hello Hef197,There is no absolute contraindication to get fillers when you are on an antibiotic treating another area of the body.  It is contraindicated if you have an infection in the planned treatment area.  However, filler material technically is an implant, and it may be wise to wait until your infection has cleared. The reason is there is a theoretical possibility of bacteria seeding the filler which could lead to a problem.  In the end, discuss this with your injector since a UTI is not likely to cause any issues with lip filler.I hope this helps and good luck.
