Thank you for sharing your question. Much will depend on the exact procedure performed, and how your recovery goes, but in my practice I ask patients to refrain for at a minimum of 6 weeks. This will allow for the muscle repair that accompanies most tummy tucks to heal. Hope this helps.
Once your partner has had an outstanding, attractive abdominoplasty by one of the amazing Board Certified plastic surgeons in Dallas, who can blame you for wanting to have sex with him or her. Since the muscle repair of the rectus diastasis is 75% healed at 6 weeks, I personally believe this is the earliest one should consider having sexual intercourse. Even at 6 weeks, the shearing forces created by several of the well known sexual positions may increase the chance of a seroma or even a delayed hematoma, and therefore depending on your preference of positions, one should consider 2 months as a conservative time frame for active and aggressive sexual intercourse.
Hello and thank you for your question. This question is best directed to the surgeon that performed your surgery. In my practice, I typically want my patient to wait approximately 3-4 weeks, but with specific restrictions. It will also depend on the specific surgery you had performed and the techniques used. Talk to your surgeon.
I would say that you probably need to wait 3-6 weeks before considering this. You also need to limit your exertion early on as well. You are best to review with your doc.
Thank you for your frank question. This unfortunately has no straight answer because well sex can mean many things. Most surgeons are a bit overcautious with recommendations because for every patient that follows recommendations one will not. So if we say 4 weeks maybe everyone waits 2 weeks. The other consideration is no surgeon wants a patient to potentially injure their repair accidentally. My recommendation is always to follow your surgeons recommendations because they will know what maneuvers were performed internally at surgery.I typcially tell my patients to start slow and stop if painful in any way.Best Dr. L
Congratulations on having undergone the tummy tuck procedure. Your plastic surgeon will be your best resource when it comes to specific information/advice. He/she knows exactly what was done and how you are progressing. Concerns would include an increase in heart rate and the potential for bleeding. Muscle spasm may be painful. Obviously, significant pressure on the surgical site is not a good idea either. It is not uncommon for patients to report increased swelling that occurs after vigorous exercise (including sexual activity), even several months after tummy tuck surgery. In my practice, I ask patients to wait until they are four to six weeks post op ( assuming gentleness and creativity) before resuming sexual activity. I hope this helps.
I typically recommend silicone gel for my patients. However, tape can work also. I'd recommend taping for 3-6 months. Make sure to wear sunscreen on your scars for the first year when out in the sun. If you're wearing a bathing suit, put sunscreen on first, let it dry, and then put on your ...
There is nothing you can do to avoid the chance for infection, but I instruct my patients to do things that I think can help. It is helpful if you shower with an antibacterial deodorant soap before coming in, and I also ask my patients to trim their own pubic hair. It always helps to be at a ...
Thank you for your question. You are right, a belly button can be a give away of previous surgery. We all strive to recreate a normal looking belly button and this depends on technique used, patient's ability to heal (infection, partial necrosis, scarring ability). I prefer to use an upside down...
