If you are young and healthy, there may not be a need to get labs.Kenneth Hughes, MDLos Angeles, CA.
Thanks for your question! In my experience of doing thousands of body contouring surgeries, I can tell you that not every patient needs pre op labs, especially if you are young & healthy & your surgeon isn’t planning on removing more than 3-4 liters of fat. Check with your specific plastic surgeon to see what his/her pre op protocol is. Best of luck to you!
Thanks for the great question. The answer is that labs are not always necessary. They are not necessary if:1) You are young and healthy2) You have no history of bleeding from previous surgical procedures.3) You have no history of major organ problems of the liver, lungs, heart and kidneys.4) You have had no problems with anesthesia in the past.Your surgeon will have a list of questions about your health to help determine if you need any preoperative testing. Young healthy patients usually do not need blood work. Most female patients get a urine pregnancy test on the morning of surgery. Now, if your plastic surgeon thinks he will be removing a lot of fat during surgery, like 3-5 liters, it might be good to consider a baseline blood count(hemoglobin) because there is some blood loss during surgery. This is good information to know during and after surgery to help monitor your recovery.Good Luck!
Hi and thanks for your question. Although every plastic surgeon has a different protocol, I have all of my patients get preoperative blood work, regardless of the type of surgery, if they are going under sedation or general anesthesia. If the procedure is being done under local anesthesia, blood work and preoperative testing is not necessary. I hope this helps!
Thanks for your inquiry, not every patient nor every operation needs labs. Your health and the type and amount of surgery dictate the need for labs. Good Luck.
Thanks for the question, most surgeons will follow their hospital guidelines for pre operative testing. We always want to be careful but we dont want to overtest
In my practice, most patients do not require pre-op lab work for moderate amounts of liposuction. Unless patients will be receiving >4L of planned liposuction volume, have medical history of diabetes, smoking, or heart/liver/lung/kidney disease, or any issues with increased or prolonged bleeding after procedures/menstruation labs, I don't necessarily require labs. These are general guidelines though, and each patient is different so needs to be considered individually keeping safety as the first priority as with any cosmetic surgical procedure planned.
It depends on you medical history, medication as well as age. It also depends on if you are going to sleep in a surgery center or doing the procedure in the office. Lastly, also depends on the amount of liposuction you are doing (1 or more areas etc....). So, if you have concerns I would call the office and put your worries to rest perhaps discussing with the surgeon's nurse. This is all assuming you are going to a BC PS and a safe place. Best of Luck.
Your health status and medical conditions (if any) determine what if any kinds of blood tests you may need. Often, my younger patients do not require any further testing. I personally have a second meeting with my patients prior to the morning of surgery to confirm their surgery goals, meet my anesthesia team, and do the pre-op paperwork.
This will depend and I recommend following up with your intended surgeon on any concerns or questions you have. For best results with liposuction, I recommend a hi definition procedure like VASER liposuction. I use VASER HI DEF with ThermiRF and fat grafting to get the most fat removal, skin tightening, contour and definition. This combination will give you the most toned result. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a hi definition physique expert. Best, Dr. Emer
Yukily. I have not been impressed by results from this device, and I’ve seen many patients seeking traditional liposuction because these procedures did not work for them. I would at least give it a chance however and over the next several weeks to see how you progress. Traditional Liposu...
Thank you for your question.Liposuction is a cosmetic procedure and is not typically covered by commercial insurance.Care credit is a good option for financing this procedure for patients who qualify.Best of luck,Dr. Kavali
Yes, you can have abdominal etching and that is taking liposuction to the next level. I usually do this on males that desire the six pack look but also on females.
