Thanks for your question! Yes, multiple location liposuction can be done at once, & in my experience of doing thousands of body contouring surgeries, I do exactly that multiple times per week. In fact, you can even have the harvested fat purified (we use the Puregraft or Revolve System) places back into areas such as your breasts or buttocks! Of course, your surgeon must determine that you’re in good health for the surgery, & I usually limit myself to 4 liters (~11 pounds) of liposuction in any one outpatient setting in our own AAAASF OR. Also, your lower lid bags need to be surgically addressed with a lower lid blepharoplasty, NOT liposuction (WAY dangerous in that area), but that also can probably be done at the same time as your liposuction procedure. Best of luck to you!
Far more important than the technique is the skill and experience of your plastic surgeon. Choose your surgeon rather than the technique and let them explain why one technique may be better than another. See the below link on some suggestions on finding the most qualified Plastic Surgeon for you. Always insist on a board certified plastic surgeon.
I frequently perform liposuction of multiple areas all in 1 surgical setting so yes, it can definitely be done on the right surgical candidate. However, there is a limit so it depends on how much fullness you have and how much of a reduction in fat you are looking for. The limit of liposuction in an outpatient setting (surgical center and you go home the same day AKA no hospital stay) is 5 liters. I frequently perform liposuction of the upper back, lower back, upper abdomen and flanks along with abdominoplasty all in the same operation. Also, as far as the lower eyelid bags. That would require whats called a blepharoplasty or a lower eyelid lift in which the fat is remove or redraped and extra skin if present is removed. Hope this helps and please make sure you are being evaluated by a board certified plastic surgeon!
The total volume of liposuction aspirate is the rate limiting factor. For outpatient surgery you should not exceed 5 liters and use a superwet tumescent technique at a minimum.
Thank you for your question. While you can liposuction several areas at once there is a limit to how much fat can be removed safely. Risks from liposuction increase significantly when over 5 liters of fat are suctioned out. We usually stay below this limit for patient safety. We’ve found that we’re able to achieve dramatic improvements for our patients with 2 to 4 liters of liposuction, depending on their needs. That said, you definitely have to choose your surgeon correctly and make sure that he/she has the training and experience to meet your goals with absolute safety. A key quality indicator is Board Certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Don’t settle for less than a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon with specialized expertise in this procedure.
Dear WinnieCarter,Some plastic surgeons may want to split this into two operations depending on the time needed. Its best to see a board-certified plastic surgeon to determine your options and whether it would take too long, more than 4 hours, to do all.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
Liposuction can be done to many areas, with the exception of the under eyes. However, a blepharoplasty can be performed at the same time. For best results with liposuction, I recommend a hi definition procedure like VASER liposuction. I use VASER HI DEF with ThermiRF and fat grafting to get the most fat removal, skin tightening, contour and definition. This combination will give you the most toned result. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a hi definition physique expert. Best, Dr. Emer
You can certainly have multiple liposuction locations done at once. Make sure that the procedure is done a t a certified surgical center and that the procedure is not going to take more than 6 hours.#StayBeautiful #RealDrWorldWide
Liposuction of multiple areas can safely be performed at the same time. However, the puffiness under the eyes is treated with Blepharoplasty; More mild cases can be treated with dermal fillers. The tissues around the eye are too delicate to treat with liposuction.
Hi! Thanks for the question. While some areas of liposuction can be done at the same (though, under eye bags are not an area that can be addressed with liposuction), and it is very common for multiple areas to be done, it depends on how much fat you have to get rid of. Most surgeons will only remove around 10 pounds of fat at a time. For your under eye, it’s very dangerous to use liposuction on that area and a lower blepharoplasty might be a better procedure (though this could also potentially happen at the same time). Most importantly, you need to find a Board Certified plastic surgeon who can explain their technique and reasoning for how they would approach your concerns to reach your aesthetic goals. Best of luck!
Hello angelinelovelace, It’s a pleasure to answer your questions! Swelling, bruising and pain during the first 3-7 days after liposuction are significant, and most patients will have difficulties moving around, in general. However, your surgeon will prescribed analgesics to handle any pain th...
Plastic surgery scars require attention after surgery so that they remain cosmetically-appealing and barely noticeable. In our office, we use a protocol for scars that minimizes their activity in the 6-8 weeks after surgery. If you have late plastic surgery scars, you may also require laser and...
