Question

I had silicone removal lip reduction 4 weeks ago and my lips are still numb and tingling. I have small bumps where the stitches were, they never dissolved and I had to trim them. Now when I smile or even worse when I laugh, my lips look tight and very unnatural. I can still feel a lot of swelling or silicone, not sure what it is but I am concerned that my smile will stay this way. I know I need to be patient but I am wondering if something can be done after I have healed to fix the way my lips look.

I tell ALL my patients that following an upper lip reduction that their lips will feel tight, roll under unnaturally, and be numb.  However, if I didn't do you procedure there is a chance that too much was taken out.  There is no easy fix for this but you can take lip from the bottom lip and graft it to the top lip.  That is quite doable if needed.  It is too early in my opinion.  What I do is I inject 5-fluorouracil and very dilute steroid several times as needed (painlessly in my hands) that will help expedite this.  However, I also tell my patients that typically after a couple of months it should relax without my intervention.  I charge $250 for the scar dissolves if you are not my patient but free if you are.  My dental blocks are so good that you will feel nothing.
