Can kenalog shots for Sculptra cause weight gain?

Sculptra is a great treatment for volume loss.  Unlike other fillers, it is a biostimulatory filler, meaning it results in collagen formation from our own cells.  One potential side effect of sculptra treatments is the appearance of palpable or visible nodules; these tend to occur weeks to months after injection.  The incidence of nodules has been greatly reduced by increased dilution of sculptra and massage after treatments.  However, in patients in which they do occur, treatments include injections of kenalog (steroid), excision, or patience as some will decrease over time.   Injections of kenalog are usually of low dose and low volume and generally have no systemic effect such as weight gain, increase blood pressure, or increased blood sugar.  Multiple treatments with kenalog preparations are often necessary to reduce these nodules.
